Okay, we're gonna do a soft reset on It Matters But It Doesn't. It has become far more like an official podcast than I ever intended it to be. The name It Matters But It Doesn't goes back about 10 or 11 years. And I brought it back, brought the artwork back, because it fit where I wanted this to be. And that was I just wanted to be something raw. I'm trying not to engage in social media. And I want the Read or Die a Slave podcast to be something official. You know, I'm bringing a lot of notes, I'm doing a ton of research to make sure that what I'm reading, and what I'm understanding is correct, and what it all means. That's very formal. I needed something to bridge that gap.
And I guess the reason it ended up being something formal was just because of what it takes to record a podcast usually, which is all the setup, and then all the post production and all of that, which I try to reduce, but still takes time. And now, this wonderful app that I happen to bought a lifetime subscription to in the early days on a whim, it's called VoiceNotes, just put out a cool feature where you can take the audio that you've been transcribing, and publish it. And you publish it to a page, on the page, people can search the full transcripts, people can interact with the episodes using an AI. And you can push it out to an RSS to send it to Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
The reason this is all important, the reason I'm bringing all this up is because it allows me to do something I couldn't do before. Which is grab my phone, say something, and publish in one click. I don't want to have notes, for It Matters But It Doesn't. I don't want to go okay, this is the time that I'm setting aside for it. And I'm going to go in there and I'm going to set up the equipment and I'm going to sign in and I'm going to, I don't want to do all that because it's against what even when It Matters But It Doesn't was a blog, it's against what that aesthetic was. And the aesthetic has always been the same, raw, random. And I want to keep it that way.
The other advantage to doing these through VoiceNotes is that at a certain point, the transcription gets a little wonky. There's like a limit. And yeah, like I've recorded something that was a half hour one time and it just could not do the transcription. It had the word VoiceNotes in it like 45 times. And then I tried to regenerate it and there was just like one big block of text and it wasn't even the entire thing. So brevity, speed in the moment. And I think that's really what I'm latching on to here is that It Matters But It Doesn't isn't raw for the sake of being raw. It's raw because I'm able to finally, for the first time, record in the moment, as opposed to, like I said, taking notes and then bringing in the notes and then summarizing what we were doing before felt kind of like, uh, I don't know, like I was going through my journal and going, Oh, let's talk about this. Oh, let's talk about this. Not that I didn't like those episodes. It's just not what I wanted this to be.
I wanted this to be something more concise and something in the moment and more frequent. You know, I don't like that it took like 10 or 11 days between episodes. And I think I'm already a week since the last one. I want to be able to just grab and publish. So if I want to do it multiple times, I can do it multiple times a day. And that's just, that's how it's going to be.
So going forward, if you want to know when things are published, you either go to the link and subscribe by email. I'm hoping it's going to put the link in the description, but if not, It Matters But It Doesn't. All one word. Oh, thank you, phone. itmattersbutitdoesnt.voicenotes.com. And, or, I should say, you can subscribe in Spotify or Apple Podcasts. I'm going to try to change those RSS feeds. Actually, you probably won't hear this if I don't do it, or until I do it, so you don't have to worry about it.
I'm going to send this out through the sub stack once, and then, because I'm going to probably try to do this more frequently, I will, if I send anything from the sub stack about new episodes of this, I'll try to group them so that, you know, like, if I do, like, five in a week, I don't know, if I'll be that prolific, you don't get five emails about it, you just get one. So, yeah, this is a perfect exemplification of what it's going to be like, because it's just in-the-moment thoughts.
